I didn’t think Aussies would actually go out of their way to eat at a place in NYC called The Australian (like eating at McDonalds in Rome in my mind), but we soon found out why they were regulars. We all shared some sausage rolls and wedges with sour cream and sweet chili sauce to start and Scott had his first ever meat pie (although he didn’t quite eat it Aussie style, as Simon pointed out!). The best part of dinner, by far, was dessert–Tim Tam cookies! These were a favorite of mine when I lived in Australia and as one had not touched my lips for over 10 years, you can imagine how happy this little cookie made me! For those who have never had a Tim Tam, its two chocolate wafer graham like cookies sandwiched around a chocolate mousse-like filling and covered in dark chocolate. . .excuse me, I just started drooling on the keyboard!
